Birthday Celebrations
February 24, 2008I had a fun Saturday! I went to Dan, Grant, and Steph’s joint birthday celebration. It was at Wasabi — I didn’t eat too much, but I enjoyed meeting new people and making new friends. The celebration style suited me. Congenial, relaxed…
Bowling after that. I was too tired, sleepy, and penniless to play, but Eden and I bonded by talking for those two or so hours. Thanks to coffee, I was able to make it til 9pm without drifting off. It’s 5:10 am now… I actually woke up at 4:15 or so! I just got 7 hours then. Harumph.
I think I’ll watch a movie.
Tim Duncan
February 19, 2008Some people say he’s boring being The Great Fundamental, but I love his non-flashy style on and off the court. Like Nash, he excelled in another sport before basketball — he was aiming for getting into the Olympics for swimming. (As it is, he made it to the Olympics for basketball.) He had to give up that dream though when his area lost its only olympic pool, and he was too afraid of sharks to continue training in the ocean. Haha!
He’s generous with his time, he speaks well, he dresses well, he’s got lots of charity things going for him, he married a nice woman, he looks like a cuddly teddy bear, he watches intelligent movies (Good Will Hunting), and he’s got an honors degree in psychology (like me!) which he uses on the court. Like Nash, he’s won two MVPs already.
Has Kobe won an MVP yet? I dooon’t thiiinkkk soooo…So do nice guys finish last? NO WAY. Anyway, more on Tim Duncan on another post. But no doubt about it — I <3 Tim Duncan too!
Great as Kobe Bryant is on the court, it takes a lot more to impress me.
Published Author?
February 13, 2008Sort of. Christine Hassler’s new book, 20 Something Manifesto, is out! You can find it at Amazon here or at a bookstore near you! The first one to let me know what the first page is for the section on "Giscelle" will get a box of chocolates — but only if I know you and you live in the Philippines or Toronto. Haha!
So buy the copy now!
Anyway, even though I didn’t get paid for my contribution (just posterity and a complimentary copy of the book which just arrived today), I’m pretty happy about finally being published in something more international! I must say, she knows how to edit. Hrmm… When I finish writing something, I wonder if I can afford to hire an editor… Ah well. Worse comes to worse, I can do what Fran Fine did for Maxwell Sheffield’s novel — pay somebody to publish it.
