For the Renaissance Man

November 26, 2007

I'm supposed to be studying, but the First Friday Weekend Art Walk in St. Augustine, Florida caught my attention. It's on the first Friday and first Saturday of every month. I think it's cool how people actually take the initiative to make art and culture free for public access and appreciation. It's one way to make the world a better place. In this case, the patrons of art at St. Augustine, Florida are making their patch of Florida land just a little bit more cultured.

It goes from 5 to 9 pm and includes free exhibits, refreshments, and entertainment. I can imagine not so many people get an opportunity to expand their horizons at such a regular basis. It doesn't mean that once you've gone this month, you shouldn't go on the next too! Art is dynamic. It's forever changing — new trends, new artists, and new creations. There's always something new and interesting to see and to learn about. If ever, a person can vary things a bit by focusing on photography one month, paintings the next, then maybe architecture on another month…

Art takes many shapes, sizes, and forms. There's different techniques one can explore and appreciate. Maybe surrealistic art is not your cup of tea, but at least you'll get to see what it is… For FREE! Plus, it's in America's oldest city. You get history in addition to art appreciation.

It's not too much of a hassle too. There's free parking and free shuttles that come around every thirty minutes. People should take advantage of this. You all better mark the first weekend of every month: Visit St. Augustine Artwalk for free!

Realization

When things calm and I stop seeing red… I realize how crazy I am.

Crazy people shouldn't be with anybody.
