Dating

JustSayHi - Free Personals

But really, it's because of the words: sexy, hurt, kill, and gun.

Well.. Sexy, I use to describe my self-image or how I perceive others.

Hurt, well, that's even a tag.

Kill — "to kill time"?

Gun — Top Gun, the movie.

LOL!

I HATE THIS

September 27, 2007

What is it with my luck? I end up getting the job, but then something goes wrong right after.

You might ask, what went wrong with this?

Bad reviews and dubious practices. Ah well. Try again! I'm getting discouraged… It really WOULD be easier to get a retail job. Maybe even go back to Calderones! What would that do for my resume though…? Not much. I doubt I'd stand out in any way.

If finding a part-time job is THIS hard, I can't imagine what finding a "real job" would be like.

I already said "yes" to the Vector Marketing people, but in line with their high turnover rate, I'm not going to tomorrow's training.

Vector Marketing

September 26, 2007

I have another job interview today! The job is all about marketing something — cutlery, sports equipment, et cetera. I don't know how well I'd do at a marketing job because I've never done it, but I know how to provide what would suit a customer's wants best, based on the retail job I had previously.

Anyway, they called me back today. They, meaning "a guy," let me know of an interview available at 4pm. I expect a lot of people would be applying for the same job, so I'm not really setting my heart on it. It's going to be good interview experience though! And I expect that if I DO get this job, they wouldn't flake out on me.

Ah well. Wish me luck, yet again!

Song Line-Up

September 23, 2007

Well…Vocal lessons seemed so short earlier, like we didn't have so much time. There was this new student there, and he wasn't helping any. It was his first lesson and he was touchy — sensitive. He was also always looking for praise! He'd interrupt everybody because he was so eager to out-sing everybody. Heh. Ah well! I'm singing a duet with him though. Maybe he'd improve on acquaintance!

My line-up of songs as of today:

  • Canzone di Azucena (from an opera by Giussepe Verdi)
  • You're Still You (Josh Groban song)
  • Panis Angelicus (sacred aria)
  • Take My Breath Away (Anybody ever watch Top Gun? I'm singing this with April.)
  • Think of Me (I'm doing this duet with the new guy.)

Next week, I'll probably start with Ave Maria too. I forgot to call Andrei last night and he only remembered it when he got to the mall.

I can't imagine ever doing really well with the Canzone in the near future, but I'll still keep working at it. I'm close to perfecting Panis Angelicus though, and Think of Me's too familiar to be THAT hard. You're Still You is a challenge towards the end, but I'm loving it! It needs more practice though.

Anyone want a personal concert? LOL!

I can graduate! (Pending this last year, of course.)

September 21, 2007

I went to the academic advisor today. She checked all my credit requirements and… I'm good! Yey! I can apply November to graduate June! Seeing this is my last year, hopefully I ace everything for the first time in my York student career.

Everyone I fall in line with says she's a real "b*tch," but I dunno… I found her quite nice. She's straight to the point and I guess she has her bad days, but with me (this is the second time I've gone to her), she's always been really fair.

Next stop, the career centre.

It's so funny how life keeps moving forward. On one hand, it's really scary. On the other, it's all very interesting.

Ally McBeal-ing

September 20, 2007

I may seem like Ms. Goody-Two-shoes sometimes, but I can be crazy, too.  Well, not really.  I'd probably get myself in trouble sooner than you can say "Innocent."  Marc wouldn't approve at all.  I'd probably be grounded by my own boyfriend!

If ever I get into trouble, though, I want a lawyer from LA.  Those Hollywood types get away with everything.  You think it's the star power?  Not really.  It's their high-powered legal eagles!  I'd probably get somebody with Kestenbaum Eisner & Gorin LLP.  They've got Los Angeles Criminal Defense Attorneys | California DUI Lawyers | Criminal & DUI Law Specialists, not to mention over 50 years of experience!  They're also ranked in the top 5% of law firms in the country.  Now THAT's comforting to hear when you're in a cold holding cell.  Especially if you were brought in for a criminal case or a DUI case in Southern California, because that's what they specialize in.  I've got my Marc to bail me out, but he might be too cute for prison.

While I'll probably never get into that much trouble, I know some people reading this blog who probably would.  Just remember, the firm partners are available 24/7.  Here's one of them.

I got the job!

Well, that says it all. ;) I was really interviewed, but I must've passed. Thing is, I can't start til October though, but that's okay. It's almost October anyway!

On the way home, I talked to this old-ish white woman whom I had met at the bus stop. Canadians are SO friendly.

I'm off to York Mills again in around two hours.

Bon Chance, Giscelle!

September 18, 2007

Interview at Hawthorn School for Girls tomorrow — part-time position that would hopefully give me some moolah and the resume experience I need with young people. Hopefully I work with way younger girls and NOT high school girls.

Just the same, y'all wish me luck! This is a wonderful opportunity and a wonderful job!

Go SR!!!

September 17, 2007

Somebody told me Migs Escueta's video was on Youtube. I think it was for "Falling Away"? Anyway, funny. He's still doing the same kinds of songs except this one's supposedly his composition. Song itself was just okay, but I thought his voice was still really nice!

I guess he's gone a long way from playing for our proms, dinners at a friend's house, and my debut. His hair's different too! I remember the good ole' days when my Mom was interested in him for me (as if, but I thought he was really cute too) because he was the epitome of her ideal guy: has a talent, goes to Southridge, goes to Molave, is a friend of my brother, and is the son of friends. LOL!

Haha, who's the girl in the video? She is SO not his type. LOL!

Anyway, GO SR BOYS!!!

Any other Southridge gentlemen paving the way to Filipino music stardom? Heh.

I will never flourish here at home.

My brothers always tell me how ugly I am, and they think my voice sucks. In the Conservatory, they seem to like my voice, but here at home, I can see them cringe.

Granted, my music isn't the sort of thing they like. Hardly anybody listens to classical now. But still. And I quote, "For me, your voice sucks."

There doesn't seem to be a point in voice lessons anymore then. I can't think of any talent or positive thing that I may have anymore.

They say each person has something remarkable in them. Why do I feel so mediocre in everything? It's always "not bad," but I can't say it's good either. I don't know why I dared embarrass myself in my parents' anniversary wedding.

So there you go. I'm ugly, my smile's ugly, my voice sucks, and they probably think I'm stupid. It's so very easy to believe them. It makes me want to just crawl into a box and stay there.

The Good and The Bad

September 15, 2007

Sooo…The concert didn't do as well as everyone had hope. We have no choice but to accept our losses and move on from here. Reassessing the situation, it's not all that bad.

New Good Friends

I love the two girls I went out with this evening. Due to the change in financial situation, I didn't think I could make it. They adjusted though (and apparently, they share the same situation) and instead of watching a $20 movie, we ended up going to a Japanese restaurant and exchanging stories. Time passed so quickly and I didn't want it to end! Problem was the restaurant was about to close… I think. They're just like me. Sort of. Well, nicer versions of me.

Anyway, I'll be seeing them again on Wednesday. We'll have coffee then walk to Ashlar, this girl's centre here.

Oh, and I saw Tina in the subway on my way home!

Funny how my circle of friends have gotten bigger and bigger and bigger here. I guess it's true what they'd said two years and a half ago… You adjust.

Hmm…Some random weird blah-ness.

I thought my Dad tells my Mom everything. It turns out he had never told her this one important thing I had told him. I'm glad he keeps my confidences safe, but it wasn't fair not to tell my Mom. So I told her.

Looking at this pic..

How old would you say I am and what is the colour of my hair?

Should I consider highlights?

September 10, 2007

I'm so frustrated and disgusted right now. I really want to just… Strangle something.

Ech, I really need a break from all this. I should've known this was what I was in for…

Tennis Talk

September 6, 2007

There's three kinds of people — the Sports Players, the Sports Fans, and Neither. We're the second. None of us are very athletic (well, except for my Mom, but even that has waned with age), but the TVs are tuned in to the sports networks 24/7. We've got the VIP Sports Pack as far as I know.

Baseball to support the Jays. Basketball to root for the Raptors (but if they're not playing, we have our own teams to support). Pro-Golf..well, just during the PGA finals. Hockey to jump for the Maple Leafs. Let's not forget curling, of course. I still don't get the rules, but it's quite…errr…gripping.

Right now, we're busy with the US Open. Watching tennis is close to my heart. <3 I might not be as loyal at following the games as my parents are, but if I catch it, I definitely stay on.

I was sooo tired from watching Cirque du Soleil's Koozo (which was spectacular!), but the moment I got home, I had 3 corns on cob for dinner while watching my beloved Roddick struggle (he held his own the first two sets and just gave up on the third) against the far superior Federer (who looked like he was taking it at his stride despite the close call the first two sets).

Agassi was a guest commentator! Whee! I couldn't help smiling when I saw him.

I'm giving up on Lleyton Hewitt ever amounting to anything. Looking forward to watching Novak Djokovic play since he's the only cute player left.

Venus to play Henin. Exciting! Henin beat Serena, so it seems like poetic justice…

Loving the tiny shorts leggy Venus wore and the pink dress sported by Anna Chakvetadze whom I find pretty.

Jacket Talk, plus Jacket For Sale

A few weeks after having had bought my last jacket ever, my Mom bought me this week's last jacket ever. It's not really a jacket though. It's a vest with a fur hoodie — it's black, so now I've got down vests in white and black, a white winter jacket, a pink winter jacket, two wool blend winter coats, a white extreme-cold jacket, a blue fleece vest, and a forest green fleece vest. Add to that my spring and fall jackets — a green trench coat from NafNaf, a black Burberry knock-off, and a Banana Republic trench coat. I can't forget my three rain jackets from the Philippines too. I've got denim jackets and blazers, but I don't really consider them as weather-protection.

Anyway, you guys can understand why the jacket's always the last.

My last ever jacket for this year though, I'm paying for that myself. A black wool trench! :D When I find it, I'll know it.

Oh, one more trench. I'm going to sell an Italian black leather trench coat. I've never worn it since it was too big for me. Any takers? It was originally around $300 US, but I'm thinking $180 is a good enough price since I'm just eager to make space in my cabinet.

Vera Pelle, made in Italy, European size 42. I figure it's a Medium or a Large.

Thinking about it, I think by the time Marc and I marry and my parents cease to support me, I wouldn't have to buy anymore jackets for quite a bit — provided I maintain this figure. I'm good for another three years?

I want to get ready for next year’s summer!

September 1, 2007

Summer's almost over, but this is precisely the best time to buy summer clothes for next summer. You save a lot of money that way! Likewise, it's the best time to buy home and garden summer items. If you don't know this yet, OnlineDiscountMart.Com is on sale when it comes to their summer items, like their lawn decorations. What one can do is buy now, put it in the garage or the basement, let the fall and winter pass, then take 'em out right when the snow melts and everything turns sunny again.

Not everyone would want to spend hundreds of dollars on lawn decorations, so one way to avoid this is to buy during an end-of-the-season sale, and this is exactly what it is. Their desperate to let go of their summer items to make space for the fall ones that they're willing to let go of good quality products cheap!

It's not just lawn decorations too. They've got garden furniture and accessories, fountains, flags, wind chimes, home decor, kitchen decor, wall decor, table decor, et cetera. There's just a lot to choose from!

Personally, I like the miniature iron garden bench under lawn decorations and that garden cherub sculpture that would make my garden more Italian.

For all those who want to keep as up-to-date as possible though, their Halloween and fall items are also already available for us to check out and to purchase. The turkey salt and pepper shakers are classic for fall entertaining! I imagine that it would look really charming during Thanksgiving.

Starting a Business

A lot of people are thinking about starting a business right now. My brothers and Marc to name a few. It's not as easy as having a great idea. Great ideas always need funding. For instance, Rex and Glenn once thought about a sort of messenger service. They needed to finance equipment like computers, printers, and faxes for offices in two sides of the globes. That didn't happen because they didn't have the funding.

It's nice to have a small idea and make it big, but sometimes things start out big.

It would be easy if we had Daddy-dearest pay for a new business. Maybe Mommy could lend you her pension and you can just pay her back? Maybe you've got thousands saved in your bank account anyway. Not everybody's as lucky, and for some, they wouldn't want to ask help from a family member.

There's a lot of options though. For example, one could find partners to help shoulder the costs. For bigger projects and newer ideas, one can find a venture capitalist firm.

My brother and his fellow engineers won this business plan competition. They wanted to market a cheaper alternative of this medical device. It could easily be realized because a lot of venture capitalists approached them to help them make their business plan into a real business.

We don't all have to join contests just to get funding though. Another option is to go to SubmitBusinessPlan.com to register, upload your business plan, and have venture capital firms, angel investors, and banks to help you get the funding you need to start that business. All you have to do is register, use their search form to find out which organization would be willing to help your idea with a specified amount and type of funding, select whatever category you belong to, upload your business plan, and then SubmitBusinessPlan.com makes your business plan available to everyone who can help you start your business.

You don't have to be old and settled to start a business. All the successful ones began early — during a time wherein the mind still works and ideas are still fresh.

Good luck!
